Backwards compatibility is a key point since nearly all deployments will be dual-band and therefore will need to support 802.11n for years to come. Dual-band APs like the MR34 will seamlessly serve 802.11ac and 802.11a/n clients in the 5 GHz band, and 802.11b/g/n in the 2.4 GHz band. This works very similarly to how 802.11n falls back to serve 802.11b/g and 802.11a clients today. As the technology matures, the maximum data rate will further increase by taking advantage of even more MIMO streams, but that won’t come for some time.įigure 2: 5 GHz channel bandwidth comparisonĨ02.11ac is backwards compatible with 802.11nĨ02.11ac falls back to 802.11n to serve clients that don’t support 802.11ac. The increase comes from using 80 MHz channels and a new modulation scheme (256 QAM). Most of the first 802.11ac access points use triple-stream MIMO, similar to today’s top-end 802.11n access points, but will have a maximum data rate of up to 1.3 Gbps. Wrex on Virmire: if Wrex is killed on Virmire, he is replaced by his brother Wreav in ME2 and ME3.Recruiting Wrex: if you choose not to recruit Wrex at all in ME1, the subsequent games will work the same as if he dies during ME1.Wrex’s fate can be wildly different depending on your actions in ME1, as recruiting him isn’t even mandatory. Whoever you choose to save in the Virmire choice has a reduced role in ME2, but a larger role in ME3 where they can even be a squadmate again. The choice of whose life to save during the mission on Virmire will obviously determine which character appears in both ME2 and ME3. That, in turn, will have an effect in Mass Effect 3, or in the case of Liara, in the ME2 Shadow Broker DLC story. If you romanced a character who has a reduced role in Mass Effect 2, you will have the option to stay loyal to them or to pursue a new relationship. Shepard’s choice of romantic love interest from Mass Effect carries over into Mass Effect 2. We've got a guide explaining the difference between the Spacer, Colonist, Earthborn, Sole Survivor, War Hero, and Ruthless backgrounds - and whichever you choose will follow your Shepard all the way through the trilogy. There is no right or wrong answer here each is slightly different and unique. In your character creation, as well as crafting Shepard's face you'll have to choose a 'Service History' from three different options and a 'Psychological profile' from three other options. Major Choices & Decisions that carry over from Mass Effect 1 Service History & Psychological Profile This will all function slightly differently if you use the rebalanced levelling found in Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, but you will still get XP, cash, and alignment bonuses based on your actions in ME1 when importing to ME2.If you’ve amassed 1,000,000 credits in Mass Effect to get the ‘Rich’ achievement, you’ll begin ME2 with an extra 100,000 credits.Being at level cap will give you the same rewards, with the bounds adjusted down from there. In Legendary Edition, this will be adjusted to match if you play on the new Legendary Level Scaling, which sets the level cap instead at 30 and rebalances progression.Level 60 ME1 characters get 4000 XP (level 5), 50,000 credits, and 10,000 of each ME2 upgrade resource.Level 50-59 ME1 characters will get 2000 XP (level 3), 30,000 credits, and 5000 of each upgrade resource.Level 1-49 ME1 characters will get 1000 XP (raising you to ME2 level 2), 20,000 credits, and 2500 of ME2’s upgrade resources. You’ll be granted XP based on your character level in Mass Effect 1:.A small amount of your Paragon & Renegade scores will carry over, meaning that you’ll have a representation of roughly how you acted in ME1 right away.Outside of story, this is how the ME1 to ME2 transfer works: When the time comes to transfer from the first Mass Effect to the second, you’ll be able to import your save and continue on with your same Shepard.Īt a basic level, this infers some mechanical bonuses, though because the systems of Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 are quite different, many things don’t map 1:1. Mass Effect save import - how stats, levels, credits and more transfer to ME2 Major Story Choices & Decisions in ME2 that matter in ME3.Mass Effect 2 Save Import - how stats, levels, credits etc transfer to ME3.Minor ME1 Story Consequences in later games.Major Choices & Decisions in Mass Effect that have consequences in ME2 & 3.Mass Effect Save Import - how stats, levels, credits and more transfer to ME2.Any choices not listed on this page don't have a major impact on the over-arching story. You can use this page to cross-reference or plan your approach in your save - and understand what actions are going to have the most wide-reaching consequences. On this page, we break down every major choice in the Mass Effect trilogy that severely impacts the story and carries from one game to the next. All of this is retained, of course, in the newly remastered Mass Effect Legendary Edition - except now, it's all in one handy package. Now, it's true that much of this choice and consequence is simply smoke and mirrors say you kill one character and their role in the next game is still present, just replaced by a slightly-different character - but ultimately many of these decisions do add up to make for a satisfying and unique-feeling experience across all three games in the series. If the Mass Effect Trilogy is famous for anything, it's for its use of choices and consequences, where there's a great range of decisions for players to make throughout the series, with decisions having repercussions not just in the game where you make them, but also often in recurring storylines across all three games.
Ending its four-season run, SyFy’s Channel Zero is based on the most popular tales from the web horror genre known as creepypasta. The least-famous show on this list is one you should definitely watch if you’re a horror fan. The writing on this episode by Drew Goddard and Jane Espenson (again) has really held up over time, as have the deeper, more heartbreaking fears with which it plays.Ĭhannel Zero: No-End House, “This Isn’t Real” Or if you could talk to your murdered girlfriend only to have that discussion turned into a nightmare. Just imagine if your dead loved one came back to you but was being held prisoner by a demon. īonus episode - Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s “Conversations With Dead People” The best episode of Buffy’s final season isn’t really designed as a pure frightfest but it contains some startling, horrifying imagery nonetheless. Written and directed by Joss Whedon, “Hush” is a stand-alone masterpiece, the rare hour of an episodic series that someone could watch and love never having seen the rest of the show. Who could guess that one of the scariest hours of TV history would be largely silent? In “Hush,” Buffy and the rest of the Scooby Gang cross paths with the Gentlemen, a nightmarish group of well-dressed demons who steal your voice before they cut out your heart. The most effective horror is often not about what is said, but what is seen. It’s as innovative a half-hour of television as any show had the guts to air in the last decade. Murai and cinematographer Christian Springer were influenced by The Shining in the design of the episode and Glover’s whiteface make-up was compared to Michael Jackson, although there is a lot more going on here beyond parody. Darius (Lakeith Stanfield) goes to a mansion to pick up a free piano with a U-Haul, and gets sucked into the realm of a man named Teddy Perkins, played by Glover under so much heavy make-up that Stanfield reportedly didn’t even realize it was him and he isn’t credited in the episode itself. The great director Hiro Murai collaborated with Glover on one of the most unsettling half-hours of TV in the 2010s, an experience that unfolded without commercial breaks. In general, Donald Glover’s masterful FX show would be classified as a comedy - but then there’s the sixth episode of season two, which is something else altogether. With that in mind, here are the scariest ones to make our cut - the 40 best TV episodes to watch when you’re looking for a truly chilling scare. Trimming this list down to thirty was difficult: There are truly terrifying episodes of Dexter, The Outer Limits, Fringe, and others that just barely missed the cut, and you could put together an entire separate list from the very best of Rod Serling’s groundbreaking masterpiece. The truth is that horror has been a reliable part of the TV landscape for generations, and it’s a remarkably diverse genre. When people think about TV horror, they probably think of the zombies of The Walking Dead or an old episode of an anthology series like The Twilight Zone or Tales From the Crypt that haunted their dreams - or, lately, Netflix’s very scary The Haunting of Bly Manor. With Halloween right around the corner, it’s the perfect time for a marathon of television frights. This post was originally published in 2017 and has been updated to include even more terrifying television. The legal notion of self-defense over the years has developed and/or expanded to include the application of Stand Your Ground Statutes/Castle Doctrine. As mentioned above this is an elements test meaning that each element must be proven to allow a valid claim of self-defense to arise. Thus in sum under Indiana law one must prove the following in order to have a valid claim of self-defense: (1) was in a place where the defendant had a right to be (2) did not provoke, instigate, or participate willingly in the violence (3) had a reasonable fear of death or great bodily harm (4) was there enough facts/evidence to prove that necessity was prevalent under the circumstances and (5) was there proof that a danger was sufficiently imminent or impending to warrant the use of force or even deadly force under the circumstances. The individual who is claiming self-defense must provide “proof that danger is sufficiently imminent or impending to excuse the use of deadly force requires evidence that a defendant, based upon prior experience or abuses, reasonably perceives imminent or impending danger closer in time to the use of deadly force.” Whipple v. Further, it has been held by the Indiana court system that there must be here a showing of imminent or impending danger. This notion of necessity is established by both a subjective and objective rationale for the individual to full fill the standard necessary for a claim of self-defense. When determining whether or not there is a necessity, a dual inquiry of whether a “defendant perceived a necessity to act as he did to defend himself from an imminent threat, and whether such perceptions were objectively reasonable.” Whipple v. Additionally, it has been held under Indiana law that right to self-defense “arises only when the necessity begins, and equally ends with the necessity and never must the necessity be greater than when the force employed defensively is deadly.” Whipple v. In general there are three elements required in order to establish right and/usage of self-defense: “(1) was in a place where the defendant had a right to be (2) did not provoke, instigate, or participate willingly in the violence and (3) had a reasonable fear of death or great bodily harm.” Brown v. Contact our Indianapolis criminal defense lawyers at Banks & Brower if you need help with claiming self-defense in Indiana. This failure results in said action of force, deadly or not, against another person not being presumed justified but rather is deemed to be a criminal act. Without being able to prove each element, one will not be able to claim self-defense. However, it should be noted that self-defense is a law of necessity and does not go without elemental requirements to establish a valid claim of self-defense. Meaning, that under Indiana Code 35-41-3-2(a) an individual is, “justified in using reasonable force against another person to protect himself from what he reasonably believes to be the imminent use of unlawful force.” Historically, this notion of self-defense “is predicated upon the right of every citizen to reasonably defend himself against an unwarranted attack.” Whipple v. Invite SemperVerus to present its 5 life-changing success-generating components-prepare, aware, be, know, do-to your organization to inspire and motivate your members. The concept of self-defense in the state of Indiana is generally seen as an act that is recognized as a valid justification for an otherwise criminal act.

One Muslim said, “What haue we to do with Pakistan? We were born here. In fact, the most heart-rending passage in the book comes out of the people’s cluelessness when the government makes the decision to transport all the Muslim families from Mano Majra to Pakistan. This obliviousness made them especially vulnerable to outside vievvs. Villagers were unaware about the happenings of larger scope than the village outskirts, which Singh depicts in he mystery of the trains full of murdered people. Singh depicts how the residents of Mano Majra lived in an almost ignorant seclusion, surrounded by mobs of Muslims who hate Sikhs and mobs of Sikhs who hate Muslims however, in the village the people had always lived harmoniously. Set next to a railway line that crosses the rising Sutlej River, the lives of the inhabitants of Mano Malra would fatefully change one summer season, The fictional village on the border of Pakistan and India is predominantly made up Of Sikh farmers and Muslim tenants. As stated before, Singh opens his novel by recreating a tiny village in the Punjabi countryside alled Mano Majra. Singh wanted to make it clear that blame must be shared for these inhumane acts. it is important to note this passage’s significance. id the Hindus had planned and started the killing According to the Hindus, the Muslims were ro blame, The fan is, both sides killed.īoth shot and stabbed and speared and clubbed. In fact, in the opening sentences of the book Singh writes, “Muslims sn Examination of these varied groups of people not only increases cultural and social understanding of that time and place, but lso shows that the blame could not be placed on any one group everyone was responsible. In the brief novel, we, as the reader, get the chance to know many of characters in great detail. This leads into the social and cultural struggle determined by the setting of Train to Pakistan. Nevertheless, he captivates his audience in the retelling of a major human dispute. Singh, who was thirty at the time of partition, published one of the few first-hand accounts of this human tragedy that is now fading into history. This violent divide between the two governments lead to the displacement of approximately 125 million men, women, and children and a death toll between scojeral hundred thousand to one million The violent nature of partition created an atmosphere of mutual hostility and suspicion that still angs in the air between the two sides today. At midnight of August IS of 1947, the two governments of India and Pakistan simultaneously declared independence, officially trying to separate Muslims from Sikhs. Untortunatety, the gritish withdrawal did not lead to a unified, free India, but instead divided into two, struggling, newly instituted stares of India and Pakistan. Singh bases his relatively short novel in the year Iß7 in India in other words, in the midst of the India Independence Act of IN7 Which resulted in the dissolution of the British Indian Empire. it is essential to examine the historical background. However, to understand the novel’s progression. It is evident that Singh did not uuant to make this novel a political recount because he shies away from describing the political role of The British and the Indian people in much detail. The following literary analysis will depict the onsequence of human calamity by analyzing the political history of India, the social and cultural struggle of the people, and the moral message and character development. Although the small village is fictional, it is important to note the historical significance this village, its people, and the time period represent in the novel Revered as a one of the finest and best-known renditions Of the Indian tragedy of partition, Train to Pakistan embodies more than a fictitious community. Wired: Barry, you've got a gift for aliens and cult quirk. Establishing a new home on Earth is their last chance for survival. These aliens are conflicted, brave, frightened, hopeful and poised on the edge of extinction themselves. They're not just rapacious monsters from another world, as they might have been in a less ambitious movie. So we decided to provide contrast to the buglike appearance of our aliens by making them very human in the way they talk and interact with one another. Morrison: As we know from watching animated movies like Wall-E, it's possible to create relatable characters who look barely human at all. And you seemed to have pulled it off with these impressively complex aliens. Wired: "Relatability" has become something of a crutch in film and comics, but it nevertheless reigns. "These aliens are conflicted, brave, frightened, hopeful and poised on the edge of extinction themselves." Which made it important to flesh out our aliens' motivations and personalities, too. We were trying to avoid the trap of "good" dinosaurs versus "evil" alien monsters, and we wanted to be able to shift the allegiance of the audience from one side to another as the story progressed. So although the dinosaurs don't talk, they're fairly expressive physically and it was obvious that audiences would immediately root for the reptiles as the underdogs. Every dinosaur scene had to be constructed like a silent movie to ensure that "characters" of the various dinosaur heroes would come through clearly. Grant Morrison: The dinosaurs don't speak and what they do tells us who they are. Translating creatures doesn't seem easy for audiences who need recognizable humans instead of humanized aliens in every scene or on every page. Wired: Grant, the comic so far reminds me of your deft touch on the moving We3. Wired nailed down both singular talents for an exclusive interview about the print and motion comics, as well as the promising film adaptation that Morrison calls a mashup of Jurassic Park and Apocalypse Now. Sonnenfeld's CGI-soaked movie – adapted for the screen by Morrison, who has been flirting with a Hollywood breakthrough for years – should touch down in a few years, barring an alien invasion or globally warmed enviropocalypse. |
